Organic vineyard
The 2.4 hectares estate (24000 m2) is located at the foothills of a mountain, on a gentle slope. The 1.4 hectares (14000 m2) of the estate are a ten year old vineyard. Due to its location the microclimate is perfect for grape growing, as cooling waves come down from the mountain during the night. The soil is a well balanced blend of clay and sand and gives an average grape production of 800 – 1000 kg per acre.
Following a right winemaking process could lead to extra fine wine. Wine produced from this vineyard was rated above 8/10 by experienced wine critics.
There are three wine grape varieties growing in the vineyard:
- Cabernet Sauvignon (0.5 hectares / 5000 m2)
- Merlot (0.45 hectares / 4500 m2)
- Sauvignon Blanc (0.45 hectares / 4500 m2)
The estate is mainly surrounded by greenfield lands that, in the future, may give an opportunity for expansion.
A winery perfect for wine tourism
The winery is accommodated in a traditional building with a gabled, tile roof.
It is fully equipped for production and bottling of red and white wine. Currently, the average production comes up to 14,000 bottles.
Beneath the winery and four meters below the ground level there is a stone cellar ideal for storing and aging wine. It has a capacity of 150 to 180 oak barrels of 225lt and storage space for 10.000 bottles.
Τhe scenery is beautiful and the location of the winery is on the way of those driving to Karpenisi, a very popular winter destination. A new highway (bypass) is under construction passing from the south side of the field, so in the near future the winery will be visible from the road (see the general plan below). The winery will be on the right spot for travelers that want to experience the process of wine making and wine tasting.
